Responsibilities
- Writes, edits, and updates website content to improve clarity, consistency, and engagement.
- Supports web accessibility improvements, including writing alt text, editing PDFs for accessibility, and ensuring content meets accessibility standards.
- Assists in migrating and reorganizing content from the IU Web Framework into Site Builder (no coding required).
- Helps evaluate and improve website structure and information architecture to enhance user experience.
- Makes basic content layout and design decisions within existing Site Builder templates and tools.
- Performs user research to ensure content decisions align with student expectations and behavior.
- Supports website quality assurance by identifying broken links, outdated content, and formatting issues.
- Collaborates with marketing staff to ensure web content aligns with broader communication goals and IU messaging.
- Assists in troubleshooting website issues by coordinating with appropriate technical teams (no technical expertise required).
- Uses tools such as Siteimprove and Google Analytics to review content performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Participates in training opportunities related to digital content, accessibility, UX, and analytics, applying learning to real projects.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University Bloomington.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Interest in digital communication, marketing, content creation, or UX writing.
- Willingness to learn new tools, systems, and workflows.
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Interest in improving user experience and digital content quality for students and families.
- Ability to effectively communicate and operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.
- Involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
- Ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with writing, editing, communications, marketing, or digital content creation.
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., Cascade, Site Builder, or similar platforms).
- Exposure to or interest in SEO, AIO, web accessibility, or UX principles.
- Interest in higher education and improving the student experience through digital content.
- Strong research skills and ability to identify opportunities for content improvement.
- Experience reviewing or organizing website content or conducting content audits.
Pay
$15.00 per hour

This is an in-person position located in Bloomington, Indiana.
