Part-Time, Single Term Instructor - First Year Writing
Job Summary
The English Department in the College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for part-time single term instructors to teach in our First-Year Writing Program. The University is opening this posting for the purposes of establishing a pool of candidates, from which to select part-time instructor candidates. Throughout the academic year, individuals may be contacted by the department to further discuss positions available, on an as needed, semester by semester basis. Service as a part-time single term instructor does not accrue tenure rights. Part-time single term instructors serve by the mutual agreement expressed in each successive contract executed and are engaged to teach at the convenience of the university. A part-time single term instructor shall not have teaching responsibilities exceeding nine credit hours per semester, and no other responsibilities such as to accrue to full-time faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
- M.A. or M.F.A. in English (in rare cases where an exception can be justified on academic grounds, professional experience may be considered in lieu of a master’s degree in the field)
- At least two years of post-M.A. composition teaching experience at the college level
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in composition and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching composition to a general education student audience in an urban setting.
