The JW Marriott Nashville Hotel offers the ideal location for leisure, business and meeting guests in the heart of downtown Nashville, adjacent to the state-of-the-art Music City Center. The first-to-market JW Marriott property includes 533 guestrooms, inclusive of 37 suites, along with a broad array of amenities. The 33-story hotel features 50,000 square feet of indoor function space, an expansive 10,000 square-foot outdoor pool and lounging deck overlooking the city skyline, Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina, as well as a 15,000 square foot event lawn. Owned and operated by Turnberry, the JW Marriott Nashville is located at 201 8th Ave. South, Nashville, TN.

About the Role

A typical overnight shift is from 10pm–6:30am. The Safety & Security Officer is responsible for patrolling the hotel, monitoring CCTV, and assisting guests with room access while providing exceptional guest service.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol all areas of the property; secure rooms; assist guests with room access
  • Monitor Closed Circuit Televisions and alarm systems
  • Authorize, monitor, and document access to secured areas
  • Follow up on all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair the wellbeing of external and internal guests
  • Defuse disturbances in accordance with Hotel policies and procedures
  • Escort unwelcome persons from the property
  • Assist external and internal guests during emergency situations
  • Respond to accidents, contact EMS or administer first aid/CPR as required
  • Assist the Director and Manager of Safety & Security in administering fire prevention programs and emergency preparedness
  • Comply with applicable federal, state and local law and safety regulations
  • Handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
  • Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and work independently
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical / Mental Demands

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry or transport up to 50 pounds
  • Must have good near and far vision
  • Must be able to hear, talk, smell
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflicts
