Part Time Resident Service Coordinator-Affordable Housing
VOAC recognizes the unique needs of the older adult who needs a wheelchair ramp to stay at home safely, and the preschooler whose family needs additional resources. VOAC supports veterans’ efforts to exit homelessness as well as provides a safe place for survivors of domestic violence. About the role
The Service Coordinator is directly responsible for service provision and housing assistance for residents in the Affordable Housing Portfolio. This program serves seniors 62 and older at an affordable housing site in Montrose. Service modalities include Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing. This position works in conjunction with the Property Manager at the housing site.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the resident’s voice is heard and their ideas play a prominent role in programming.
- Facilitate and accept referrals on residents from the Property Manager, family members, service providers, and the residents themselves.
- Assess services needed by residents through surveys, visitations, and group meetings; complete assessments and collect needed information.
- Identify and serve the unique needs of residents utilizing screening and assessment.
- Facilitate the delivery of appropriate services through an equity lens.
- Provide residents with information on specific services and/or program providers, offering several options whenever possible.
- Comply with all Fair Housing requirements.
- Encourage residents and/or family members to arrange for required services to maintain and promote independence.
- Coordinate and monitor services and activities of providers to assure quality of care and cost effectiveness; advocate for residents per their wishes.
- Maintain an up-to-date resource guide on service providers in the community using local resources and BenefitsCheckup.org.
- Maintain and submit accurate and updated records on all residents, including services received.
- Develop and facilitate support groups and workshops in response to resident needs.
- Assist in relocating residents to a higher level of care as needed.
- Support team members by serving as a resource for problem-solving and staying current on issues and theories within the field.
- Implement the Service Coordinator program in accordance with HUD and Volunteers of America guidelines.
- Attend orientations, trainings, education programs, staff meetings, community meetings, conferences, and workshops as requested.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members and community stakeholders on best practices in relevant service models.
- Document all client interactions along with required eligibility and demographic information.
- Maintain confidentiality and participate effectively within and across teams.
- Complete annual CEU requirements.
- Perform job responsibilities in accordance with the Social Work Code of Ethics.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least one year of experience working with senior citizens and/or people with disabilities.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain first aid, AED, and CPR certification.
- Pass criminal and civil background checks within 30 days of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficient in using Windows environment and working with databases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mental health experience.
- Bilingual in a language represented in the resident community (Spanish preferred).
Skills
- Expert written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- High competency in Microsoft Office suite and cloud-based applications.
- Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Pay
$21.00–$24.00 per hour (based on experience).
Schedule
Part-time, 20 hours per week. Monday–Friday. Hours are flexible.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Indoor office environment with prolonged periods of sitting.
- Local travel required for training and meetings.
- Out-of-state travel once per year for a national conference.
- Physical tasks may include bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, crouching, squatting, lifting (30–50 pounds), balancing, standing, sitting, hand/foot motions, walking, seeing (close and distant vision), depth perception, hearing/listening, speaking/shouting, and use of hands/fingers (grasping, holding, touching).
