Purpose
This position will manage a Small Business Needs Assessment survey from development through data analysis and outcome reporting. This position is responsible for developing objectives, overseeing activities, and communicating with stakeholders in agreement with the joint contract.
Responsibilities
- Administer the assessment, in accordance with applicable employment and tax laws and regulations
- Support the joint development of survey questions and a shared methodology, approved by both TEXAS Entrepreneurship and City of Austin, to ensure the instrument captures data useful to both organizations
- Survey approximately 1,000 small business owners drawn from both organizations' client bases and networks
- Support the secure handling of confidential contact information contributed by each party, and the compilation of raw data into a shared 2026/2027 Needs Assessment report
- Administer the assessment, in accordance with applicable employment and tax laws and regulations
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in a customer service environment and the ability to communicate effective relationship management
- Effective communication skills and ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team-oriented environment
- Previous success managing multiple projects, assessing work priorities, and as well as regular ability in meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and recording data
- Proficiency with software, especially MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and comfort learning new technologies
- Previous experience developing and leading research projects
- Previous experience administering large-scale surveys, analyzing data and communicating outcomes to stakeholders
- Master's degree and three years of experience coordinating or administering a program; or 1 year with a PhD degree. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate

- Business experience or background
- More than the required relevant experience
- Experience in a business environment
- Experience with University of Texas policies, procedures, and administrative systems
Pay & Schedule
- $2,500 monthly prorated based on a 20-hour workweek
- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 20
- Earliest Start Date: Sep 01, 2026
- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until May 31, 2027
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA
- Works in standard office conditions, in a shared office environment with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
- Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods and special events
- This is an Austin, TX-based position
- This benefits-eligible position is a short-term position with a regular schedule of 20 hours per week (50% FTE) and an expected end date of May 31, 2027
