This position supports ongoing projects in the Holland-Lulewicz archaeology and ecology labs.
Responsibilities
- Zooarchaeological analyses: identifying, sorting, weighing, categorizing, and analyzing vertebrate and invertebrate remains recovered through excavation.
- Laboratory analyses on soil samples, including particle size analysis via screening and advanced work at the core-analyzer facility.
- Conducting literature reviews on topics, methods, analytical procedures, or background relevant to ongoing projects.
- Performing quantitative analyses on datasets, collaborating with Lab PIs to design and report these analyses.
- Completing various analytical tasks such as counting, weighing, photographing, and measuring artifacts or samples.
- Managing lab tasks and schedules, organizing project progress, and coordinating with undergraduate and graduate lab members.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Anthropology.
- Experience working with environmental and archaeological materials and data.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
- Ideally, experience undertaking independent archaeological and/or paleoenvironmental research.
