Job Description And Position Requirements

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a candidate for a PT Human Research Technologist to explain study aspects and procedures, maintain lab equipment, apply electrodes and monitor overnight sleep studies. As a sleep technician, the position will be accountable for all overnight sleep research recordings (including consecutive night studies) for clinical trials in human subjects; monitor and track research study files to ensure quality control of data collected.

  • Maintain supplies for sleep laboratory as well as recording equipment to ensure it is in working order at all times for research studies.
  • Collect and analyze biological samples (saliva, urine).
  • Participate in aspects of sleep data management for assigned projects including: update and maintain databases; resolve problem data issues; track data collection forms, and other project materials; perform verification procedures.
  • Collaborate with project coordinators, clinical investigators, clinical personnel, and other data management personnel to plan and implement sleep data management tasks for research projects.

Work Hours

  • 3rd shift, including some weekends.
  • This position is up to 40 hours a week for a maximum assignment length of 16 weeks.

Qualifications

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) strongly preferred.
  • Will consider candidates with prior training in sleep studies who have suitable work experience.

Background Checks/Clearances

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
