Part Time Recreation Assistant- David B. Waymer Recreation Center (19hr/week)

About the role

This position will assist with planning and directing recreation and leisure programs, activities, and events for diversified age groups, such as preschool, youth, and teens at David B. Waymer Recreation Center. Specific program areas could include athletics, social events, and summer/day camps. This position will work up to 19 hours per week, which may include nights and weekends depending on business need.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
  • Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
  • Enforce rules and regulations
  • Collections fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals
  • Aid in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
  • Referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or line-person at games
  • Aid in various recreational programs for all ages
  • Handle inquiries and complaints from public
  • Aid in special events and field trips

Requirements

No experience required. Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted. Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid. General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
