Responsibilities
- Operate computer system and accurately input data into in-house system.
- Operate telephones, including transferring calls to proper area and personnel; speak courteously with callers.
- Greet and assist the public.
- Track data and handle invoicing as needed.
- Read and comprehend manuals and instructions; follow verbal instructions.
- Operate fax and copier machines.
- Create and maintain information logs as required.
- Accurately complete all paperwork in an understandable manner.
- Understand and maintain files as required.
- Follow established procedures.
- Read, understand, and comply with all security and safety procedures.
- Respond in a timely and accurate manner to requests under the Public Information Act.
- Perform other duties as assigned; contribute to the overall success of the department.
- Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Subject to 24-hour recall: may be required to work overtime during emergency situations, including natural or man-made disasters, and perform essential duties different from the normal scope of the position.
Requirements
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and/or ordinances.
- Proficiency in composition, grammar, spelling, and general writing skills.
- Ability to multitask in a work environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work varying hours, including holidays and weekends.
- Ability to work alone and with groups.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Computer experience with Windows-based programs.
- Must pass a background investigation and all pre-employment screenings.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License; CDL preferred.
Physical Demands
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
