About the role
As a Program Manager, you will drive the mission by ensuring safety and joy standards are met, supporting operational efficiency, and fostering respectful relationships among staff. You will maintain program tasks, coach staff, and address challenges to maintain team cohesion and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Exhibit role model qualities to ensure safety and joy standards are met by supporting a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities for a team of staff members.
- Support operational efficiency by keeping site documents and licensing standards up to date.
- Outline attendance protocols, behavior policies, safety procedures, and ensure program tasks are completed effectively.
- Provide continual coaching and foster respectful relationships among staff to address challenges promptly.
- Consistently support and report on safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all participants and identify potential risks within the program environment.
- Engage meaningfully with families, client partners, peers, and children to build effective communication and relationships.
- Respond promptly to emails, text messages, and inquiries during program hours to ensure transparency and trust.
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with the Area Manager to support outlined program goals and implement changes or processes as guided.
- Maintain accurate records for student check-ins and check-outs, ensuring “name to face” attendance procedures are completed per company policy.
- Implement daily activities, fitness fun, and curriculum while providing a safe and engaging environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proof of MMR vaccination (for individuals 18+ years of age).
- Cleared tuberculosis test.
- First Aid and CPR certification (in-person).
- Experience working with children and knowledge of unique and special needs.
- Coursework or training in child development and/or related field.
- Ability to model professional standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community.
- Familiarity with Google technology software or willingness to learn.
- Ability to meet New Jersey state-specific requirements for program supervision based on capacity (see qualifications).
Qualifications
New Jersey State Requirements based on the number of children in the program:
- 6-15 children:
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- 6 hours training (in child care), and
- 2 years experience.
- 16-30 children:
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- 6 hours training (in child care), and
- 3 years experience, or
- Certificate as a Recreation Technician from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), and
- 6 hours training (in child care), and
- 1 year experience, or
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate; Group Teacher Approval; or 15 college credits in child development, education, recreation, psychology, health care, nursing, or related field, and
- 6 hours training (in child care), and
- 1 year experience, or
- 15 college credits in areas not related to children, and
- 6 hours training (in child care), and
- 2 years experience.
- 31 or more children:
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- 6 hours training (in child care) and 3 hours (in child program management), or
- Certificate as a Recreation Technician from the NRPA, and
- 6 hours training (in child care) and 3 hours (in child program management), and
- 2 years experience, or
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate; Group Teacher Approval; or 15 college credits in child development, education, recreation, psychology, health care, nursing, or related field, and
- 6 hours training (in child care) and 3 hours (in child program management), and
- 2 years experience, or
- 15 college credits in areas not related to children, and

- Associate's Degree in any field, and
- 6 hours (in child care) and 3 hours (in child program management), and
- 2 years experience, or
- Bachelor's Degree in a child-related field; or Office of Licensing Head Teacher Approval, and
- 3 hours training (in child program management), and
- 1 year experience, or
- Certificate as a Recreation Administrator, Recreation Supervisor, or Recreation Professional, and
- 3 hours training (in child program management), and
- 1 year experience, or
- Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field, and
- 6 hours training (in child care) and 3 hours (in child program management), and
- 1 year experience, or
- School Age Program Supervisor endorsement from the New Jersey Registry for Childhood Professionals, Professional Impact New Jersey.
*Training requirement must be completed within 9 months of being approved as Program Supervisor by the OOL.
Skills
- Experience working amongst competing priorities and delivering quality service to all stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, and visual) with adults and children.
Pay
$20.00 - $24.00 per hour (based on education and experience).
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7:15am - 8:35am and 3:20pm - 6:00pm.
