Description
The VNA | Johnson County, Iowa, is seeking a compassionate Part-Time Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic home health team. This role involves providing therapeutic services to help patients recover from various health conditions, enhancing their independence and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver physical therapy treatments and interventions.
- Absorb and implement the patient’s plan of care, including therapeutic exercises, stretching, strengthening, range-of-motion activities, and mobility training.
- Train patients in the use of assistive devices and perform transfer training using safe body mechanics and appropriate equipment.
- Implement therapeutic techniques to reduce pain, improve circulation, and restore function.
- Observe, document, and report patient progress and treatment responses to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Educate patients and family members on home exercise programs and strategies to support recovery.
- Participate in discharge planning and ongoing care coordination.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other care team members to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.
- Attend staff meetings, case conferences, educational opportunities, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Follow agency policies, documentation standards, infection-control procedures, and all regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current Iowa Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in good standing.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
- Ability to travel throughout Johnson County.
- Physical ability to assist patients with transfers, mobility training, gait training, therapeutic exercise, and activities of daily living.
- Strong communication, documentation, and patient education skills.
- Ability to successfully pass all pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check, reference checks, and any other screenings required by VNA and applicable state and federal regulations.
