Part-time support staff position located on the Wharton campus.
About the role
Multiple daytime positions available. The Part-Time Peer Tutor will work closely with the Learning Center Facilitator and staff to provide a positive and welcoming educational environment for students. The Peer Tutor provides student tutoring and assistance in core courses, study skills, and time management. The Peer Tutor assists in the Learning Center computer lab as well as provides other services offered in the Center.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current or continued enrollment at WCJC
- Completion of a college English or Algebra course with a letter grade no lower than a B
- Ability to relate to students and present content in a variety of ways to accommodate diverse learning styles
- Strong technical skills, including experience with an online Learning Management System such as Brightspace and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of student populations
- Criminal background check required
