Part-time Pastor
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and preach biblically faithful, Christ-centered sermons for Sunday morning worship
- Lead the Wednesday evening Bible study/prayer service
- Guard doctrinal integrity and promote spiritual growth within the congregation
- Provide pastoral counsel, encouragement, and spiritual care
- Conduct weddings, funerals, and crisis ministry as needed
- Lead and administer Baptism and the Lord’s Supper in accordance with Scripture and church doctrine
- Provide biblical leadership and spiritual direction for the church
- Equip believers for ministry in accordance with Ephesians 4:11–12
- Disciple and develop leaders within the congregation
- Facilitate and equip the deacons to lead member visitation and spiritual care efforts
- Foster unity and cooperation between pastoral leadership and deacons in ministry
- Lead the church in evangelism and community engagement
- Encourage participation in cooperative mission work
Inspiring Leadership
The Pastor must provide biblical leadership and spiritual direction for the church, equipping believers for ministry in accordance with Ephesians 4:11–12.
Doctrinal Commitment
The Pastor must affirm, support, and teach in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and cooperate with the local Southern Baptist Association and state convention.
Availability
This role does not require full-time office hours or continuous on-call availability. Emergency needs will be addressed as reasonably possible within the scope of part-time ministry.
Accountability
The Pastor is accountable to the congregation and serves in accordance with the church constitution and bylaws. The Pastor will receive an annual evaluation conducted by the Deacons and Trustees. The evaluation will be discussed with the Pastor prior to presentation to the congregation at the annual business meeting.
Biblical Qualifications
The Pastor must meet the qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:5–9, and 1 Peter 5:1–4, demonstrating godly character, doctrinal faithfulness, humility, and a shepherd’s heart for God’s people.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Prior experience serving as a pastor or in church leadership
- Formal theological education or ministry training (not required)
- Demonstrated ability to preach, teach, and shepherd effectively
- Proven ability to train and lead others in ministry
- Strong communication, organization, and relational skills
