Location: Jerry’s Enterprises, Inc. Commissary

Reports to: Packaging/Distribution Lead • Part Time • Pay: Progressive scale up to $18.00/hour based on experience

About the role

Primary objective is to help the Packaging/Distribution Department meet daily goals. The position ensures consistent product quality and quantity to meet daily needs, with a focus on product knowledge, workflow sequence, and packaging/distribution speed.

Work hours vary according to business needs; assignments and direction are provided by the Packaging/Distribution Lead or person in charge.

Responsibilities

  • Answer Packaging/Distribution Department telephone calls promptly
  • Package and prepare bakery products for distribution
  • Slice product safely
  • Package finished bakery products
  • Properly label and distribute finished product
  • Follow safe food handling and preparation processes
  • Follow approved preparation and production guidelines
  • Ensure proper product quality and presentation
  • Clean Packaging/Distribution Department and maintain back-room conditions
  • Break down and clean equipment
  • Clean shelves, racking, and cases as needed
  • Use personal protective devices (splash goggles, chemical-resistant gloves) as required
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies
  • Follow and enforce procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and other programs supporting food safety, quality systems, and third-party audits
  • Follow all facility and department policies and procedures
  • Assist in the Production Departments when assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned or delegated

Requirements

  • Self-directed and able to prioritize projects
  • Reliable, punctual, honest, and dependable
  • Knowledge of packaging/distribution, product preparation, and food safety regulations
  • Ongoing social skills and verbal interaction
  • Ability to read, walk, stand, and perform moderate lifting
  • Operation of finishing and wrapping equipment

Physical Requirements

Frequent (15% of work shift or at least ten repetitions per shift):

  • Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling over 50 force lbs.
  • Unloading bakery ingredients and supplies
  • Walking, reaching, standing, stooping/bending, squatting
  • Repetitive motion: turning, bending
  • Equipment operation: scanner, scale, label machine, mixer, oven, bread slicer, scraper knives, baker rack, box cutter, pallet jack, pan washer
  • Mental judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing, math, basic computer skills
  • Extended exposure to varied temperatures and wet surfaces, working with hot grease

Occasional (less than 15% of work shift or fewer than 10 repetitions per shift):

  • Lifting/carrying over 50 lbs.
  • Equipment operation (calculator)
  • Climbing ladders, kneeling, crawling

Pay

Progressive scale up to $18.00 per hour, based on experience.

Schedule

Sunday – Saturday, varied hours.
