Role Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides patient-centered care under RN or Nurse Manager supervision, focusing on physical, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, assisting with treatments, coordinating tests, documenting care, and educating patients and families. The LPN collaborates with healthcare team members, monitors patient conditions, and updates care plans accordingly.
Key Duties
- Assess and manage patient needs following physician orders
- Perform routine nursing procedures and medication administration within scope
- Coordinate care and communicate changes in patient status
- Educate patients and caregivers to promote self-care
- Ensure accurate documentation and adhere to regulatory guidelines
- Participate in staff education, training, and continuing education
- Serve as a preceptor for new colleagues and support team functions
Qualifications & Skills
- High School diploma or GED, with valid LPN license and BLS certification
- Previous healthcare experience; oncology or outpatient setting preferred
- Strong clinical, assessment, communication, and organizational skills
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and scheduling flexibility
