About the role

Blackhawk Technical College is seeking Part-time Nursing Instructors for its Associate Degree of Nursing Program to support clinical instruction. Class assignments and locations may vary from term to term, and instructors may teach at various clinical sites within the district.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction for assigned classes, including classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, with accountability for the entire program.
  • Hold on-site office hours during clinical teaching, classroom, and laboratory times.
  • Remain current with industry needs to ensure graduate outcomes meet workplace expectations.
  • Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to evaluate instruction and curriculum effectiveness.
  • Create a classroom/lab environment respectful of diversity and committed to multiculturalism.
  • Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices and in accordance with state regulations.
  • Identify students needing assistance and refer them to Student Services.
  • Collaborate with Student Services and Learning Resources staff to help students adjust to the learning environment.
  • Stay current on teaching developments to deliver instruction for various learning styles, using the latest technology and alternative delivery methods.
  • Maintain course curriculum following state guidelines.
  • Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught.
  • Work cooperatively with members of other departments and programs in coordinating courses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Currently enrolled in a Nursing Graduate Program or completed graduate-level coursework in clinical best practice or other non-graduate-level clinical education or clinical best practices or hold National Certification in the specialty they will be providing clinical instruction.
  • Two (2) years (4,000 hours) of related work experience as a registered nurse.
  • Current or eligible for Wisconsin license to practice as an R.N.; must be licensed by the employment start date with an unencumbered license.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification.
  • Meet Wisconsin Technical College System requirements through the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
