Position Summary
The Mental Health Professional role provides oversight of the Mental Health & Intellectual Disabilities Program and all Mental Health Workers.
Responsibilities
- Marketing this program to case managers, intake completion on new admissions, service admission, and completion of both the mental health assessment and person-centered plan.
- Chairing quarterly meetings for the Human Rights Committee and Basic Assurances Committee.
- Developing Person Centered Plans and Individual Service Plans in cooperation with outside client supports.
- Writing Individual Service Plans (ISPs) as required.
- Providing training, support, and resources necessary to enhance each individual's adaptive functioning.
- Assessing each individual's habilitation potential, including strengths, needs, and interests.
- Coordinating with Quality Assurance Manager to provide training for staff in areas such as habilitation, program implementation, documentation, rights, mandatory reporting on abuse/neglect/special incidents, and health and safety.
- Maintaining staffing guidelines and staffing levels for each program in a timely manner.
- Ensuring all necessary data is submitted as scheduled.
- Ensuring revisions in training and programs are made and documented if the consumer shows no progress in three (3) months.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of Behavior Management Plans.
- Ensuring effective employee on-boarding and providing training for staff in areas such as habilitation, program implementation, documentation, rights, mandatory reporting on abuse/neglect/special incidents, and health/safety standards.
- Completing 90-day client supervisory visits.
- Reviewing all client restrictions at least quarterly, or more often at the request of the client.
- Tracking and addressing all client, family, case manager, and employee complaints.
- Attending and participating in the Behavior Program Review Committee meetings.
- Maintaining minutes from all meetings.
- Facilitating, encouraging, and identifying client's natural support systems.
- Informing clients of their rights and responsibilities upon admission and at least annually.
- Completing all admission documents and the client welcome packet upon entering service with Addus.
- Tracking and ensuring clients receive annual physicals and annual TB testing.
- Aiding in the processing of employee payroll.
- Reporting and investigating all allegations of client abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
Requirements & Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in a human services field (Psychology, Sociology, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field), and a minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is required.
- Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional (QDDP) certification Required.
- Two years experience as a Mental Health professional working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- One year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and execute change management.
- Attention to detail; ability to understand and comply with program/contract policies and procedures.
- Build strong internal networks.
