Part Time Men's Shelter Associate 2nd shift
Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished. We seek applicants who love people, live as role models, and want to spread the good news. This is a nicotine-free ministry, and all staff must be comfortable in a Christian environment that integrates prayer, worship, and Bible study into daily job functions.

Responsibilities
- Uphold, promote, and encourage the ministry’s culture and values in word and deed.
- Alert the Manager of any changes or concerns within the department.
- Maintain constant communication with other Men’s shelter staff during shifts.
- Incorporate Biblical principles into interactions with guests and staff to build positive relationships.
- Maintain a loving and peaceful environment by providing spiritual care to guests as needed.
- Assist guests with basic needs during your shift.
- Submit all requested reports to the Manager on time.
- Provide excellent guest service with diplomacy, tact, and confidentiality in accordance with ministry policies.
- Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to handle guest complaints; refer issues to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Hold guests accountable for inappropriate behavior and enforce discipline procedures according to ministry policies.
- Invest time in guests’ lives to encourage positive growth at the mission and in their future.
- Perform simple first aid in emergencies.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Adhere to all Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Highly ethical with the ability to make smart, timely decisions.
- Ability to write clear and concise correspondence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling information.
- Ability to handle difficult guests with firm grace and love, representing Christ and the ministry in all interactions.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve Him.
- Consistent witness for Jesus Christ and spiritual maturity as defined by evangelical biblical standards.
- Compassion for the homeless and hurting, with a passion for life transformation in an urban setting.

Working Conditions
- Standing/Walking: Occasionally (1%-33%), Frequently (34%-66%), Continuously (67%-100%).
- Equipment/Tools Used: Computer, phone, fax.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Pay
$15 per hour.
