Duties
- Takes patient history and obtains vital signs
- Performs basic testing or screenings such as vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing
- Accurately completes corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples
- Able to perform subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections and accurately complete paperwork according to policy for that procedure
- Performs point of care testing such as strep, mono, glucose, influenza, Urine pregnancy, Urinalysis, blood glucose levels
- Dispenses and documents medications and other treatment modalities
- Ensures sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclave
- Schedules and coordinates necessary records for ancillary care for patients
- Assists providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D's and splinting/ ortho-glass preparation)
- Performs occupational medicine testing such as urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiogram, and DOT physicals
- Maintains confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA)
- Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to manager
- Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed
- Performs duties to ensure good patient flow
- Registers patients, explains accepted insurances, and completes registration screen in a timely manner
- Travels to care centers within designated region
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information
- Cleans and stocks the site with other members of the team
- Trains other team members
Requirements
- 1-2 years previous experience working in a physician practice or clinic setting is preferred
- Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Ability to function independently without close supervision, and to consistently exercise discretion and the highest level of good clinical and other professional judgment
- Ability to complete and maintain CPR certification
