Duties

  • Takes patient history and obtains vital signs
  • Performs basic testing or screenings such as vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing
  • Accurately completes corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples
  • Able to perform subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections and accurately complete paperwork according to policy for that procedure
  • Performs point of care testing such as strep, mono, glucose, influenza, Urine pregnancy, Urinalysis, blood glucose levels
  • Dispenses and documents medications and other treatment modalities
  • Ensures sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclave
  • Schedules and coordinates necessary records for ancillary care for patients
  • Assists providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D's and splinting/ ortho-glass preparation)
  • Maintains confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA)
  • Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to manager
  • Logs laboratory procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed
  • Responsible for patient call backs, scheduling physician referrals; specialist's referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient's education
  • Maintains examination rooms, sterilizes equipment and stocks necessary medical supplies
  • Performs duties to ensure good patient flow
  • Registration duties: explains to patients' accepted insurances and those out of network and knowledgeable of all pricing. Properly collects and records payments, completes registration screen in a timely manner
  • Travel to care centers within designated region
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information
  • Cleans and stocks the site with other members of the team
  • Trains other team members

Requirements

  • 1-2 years previous experience working in a physician practice or clinic setting is preferred
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Ability to function independently without close supervision, and to consistently exercise discretion and the highest level of good clinical and other professional judgment
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR certification
