Part-Time Marketing & Design Coordinator
About the role
The Marketing & Design Coordinator is responsible for promoting the orchestra's concerts, educational programs, fundraising initiatives, and community impact through creative marketing, graphic design, social media, and communications. This position plays an important role in increasing audience attendance, strengthening community awareness, engaging donors, and supporting the organization's mission.
This is a part-time contract position assisting the Music Director and the Board of Directors Marketing Committee in preparing and implementing a strategic promotional plan to elevate the awareness of the Northland Symphony Orchestra Association. This 10-month position reports to the Executive Director/Marketing Committee Chair and is paid $500 per month.
Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent organizational branding across all communications
- Design print and digital materials, including concert posters, flyers, programs, digital and print ads, social media graphics, email graphics, annual reports, and donor materials
- Create and implement a social media plan to promote concerts and events, as well as the orchestra in general
- Assist with social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram)
- Assist with creating and scheduling engaging content
- Capture photos and short videos at rehearsals and performances
- Monitor engagement and respond to comments/messages
- Assist with paid social media advertising campaigns
- Develop and implement seasonal marketing plans for concerts and events
- Create promotional campaigns to increase audience engagement
- Manage the organization's marketing calendar
- Assist in writing compelling content for email newsletters, website, social media, and advertising
- Coordinate media outreach and community event listings
- Track marketing performance and recommend improvements
- Assist with concert promotion before performances
- Coordinate marketing materials for events
- Help capture photography and video content
- Support audience engagement activities during concerts
Time Commitment
This position is estimated to take approximately 20-25 hours per month. In addition to the responsibilities listed above, this individual will meet with the Marketing Committee once per month and attend some of the full board meetings as time allows.
Technical Skills
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Canva
- Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.)
- Social media management tools
- Basic photography
- Google Analytics (preferred)
