Part Time Maintenance Technician- Holy Archangels Parish- Hoffman Estates- Vicariate IV

Responsibilities

• Aids in assuring the optimal functioning of building systems including fire/life safety, HVAC, lighting, mechanical and plumbing in all parish facilities.
• Responsible for grounds keeping activities including landscaping, maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of snow and trash.
• Performs repairs to buildings and equipment as required, utilizing basic knowledge in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry and painting work.
• Assure optimal functioning of building systems including fire/life safety, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing.
• Perform maintenance service and small repairs in the areas of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry and painting.
• Ensure parish machinery is well maintained and that maintenance procedures are followed.
• Utilize existing information and schedules and develop additional schedules as needed.
• With approval of Facility and Maintenance Manager, supervise work with outside contractors for routine preventative activities such as safety inspections, pest control and other preventative maintenance on facility systems.
• Install, remove and clean air conditioning window units.
• Replace batteries in smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors.
• Replace light bulbs as necessary.
• Mop, strip and wax floors.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpeted areas as needed.
• Support snow removal needs to ensure safe conditions for parishioners, school and parish personnel as well as visitors.
• Ensure parish machinery is well maintained and that maintenance procedures are followed.
• May be requested to perform general labor tasks such as sweeping, trash removal and cleaning with strong attention to detail.
• Set up for activities in church and school.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of High School graduate, GED or equivalent, with trade school classes.
• Post High School coursework in trade related field leading to certification/licensure or Associate degree in technical field highly preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintenance or a related field such as building maintenance and related systems.
• Basic knowledge and experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, machine servicing, painting and other trades.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate to others in writing.
• Familiarity with basic PC skills, email and internet.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrate understanding, respect and support of the Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.

Pay

The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive total rewards package to include competitive compensation and benefit programs. This position has a hourly range of $20.00-$22.00. An employee’s pay within the range is based on relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, location & business needs.
