Part Time Level II/Level I Special Education Paraprofessional - Escalante Valley Elementary

About the role

Escalante Valley Elementary School is seeking a Part-Time Level II/Level I Special Education Paraprofessional to provide education and related services to students with disabilities under the direction of the Special Education Teacher. This position works 27.5 hours per week beginning in August.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support assistance to students and student groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity.
• Assist in observing and recording behavior patterns and follow appropriate techniques to reinforce acceptable behavior.
• Assist certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
• Support procedures related to physical and medical needs of students.
• Assist students with self-care techniques, including toilet training, bathing, personal cleanliness, diapering, feeding, and other self-help skills as needed.
• Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of classroom management systems.
• Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with others.
• Supervise students in all areas of the school, including inside and outside the building during lunch hour.
• Operate various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, and related software.
• Lift and support students, change protective clothing, implement behavior management plans, and operate adaptive equipment (e.g., wheelchairs).
• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance.
• Use basic computer knowledge, including Google Docs, and check email frequently; willingness to learn and use all required computer systems and software.
