Part-Time Lecturer(s) Pool in Agricultural Economics

About the role

The Agriculture Program invites applications to establish a pool of adjunct lecturers qualified to teach undergraduate agricultural economics courses. Program needs vary from semester to semester, but some combination of the following courses are likely to be in need of staffing: Principles of Agricultural Economics; Agricultural Markets and Pricing; Agricultural Finance; Appraisal of Agricultural Property; and Agricultural Commodity Futures.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate agricultural economics courses as needed.
• Develop and maintain course materials.
• Maintain student records and communicate with students.
• Participate in departmental meetings and committee work.
• Assist with curriculum development and assessment.
• Contribute to departmental and university initiatives.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness or related field is required.
• Strong college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.
• Evidence of field experience and appropriate license and/or certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness or related field is required, with strong college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Agricultural Economics or a closely related field.

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver effective lectures and assignments.
• Experience with online and hybrid course delivery.
• Knowledge of agricultural economics principles and practices.

Pay

Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

About the Department and the College

The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture is a multidisciplinary program blending contributions from several of academic departments in support of lower and upper division core courses serving four concentrations: Agricultural Biology, Agricultural Economics, Sustainable Agriculture, and General Agriculture. The program also depends on and fosters sustainable relationships with area community colleges through the implementation of a “2+2” curricular design. Students majoring in the program are encouraged to explore diverse approaches to agricultural production, distribution, and management within evolving economic and environmental settings.
