Part-Time Lecturer Pool - Nutrition (AY 26/27)
About the role
The Food Science and Nutrition Department within the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026-27 academic year. Lecturers in the Nutrition program are expected to teach undergraduate lectures and/or laboratory courses in one or more of the following areas: introductory nutrition, food customs and culture, medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, nutrition counseling, nutrition & exercise for health & disease prevention, life-cycle nutrition including maternal/child and nutrition in aging. In addition, lecturers are expected to supervise student experiences and undergraduate research projects.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate lectures and/or laboratory courses in nutrition and related fields.
- Supervise student experiences and undergraduate research projects.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (must include graduate courses in nutrition).
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary settings.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.
- R.D. preferred for appointments in specific nutrition classes.
- Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
- Relevant work experience and professional capabilities preferred.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
- Initial rank and salary based on professional experience and educational background.
- Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
- Classification salary ranges for the respective ranks: Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677; Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224; Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523; Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211.
Skills
- Ability to teach in multiple areas of nutrition.
- Experience supervising student projects.
