About the role

The Mathematics Department at Cal Poly is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers to teach courses at the Cal Poly Solano campus, located in Vallejo, CA. Positions are available as determined by need during the Fall and/or Spring semester of the 2026-27 academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching lower division mathematics courses such as:
    • Transition to College Algebra
    • Stretch College Algebra
    • Stretch Precalculus
    • College Algebra
    • Precalculus
    • Calculus I, II, and III
    • Linear Analysis
    • Statistics

Pay

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges are:

  • Lecturer A: $5,507–$6,677
  • Lecturer B: $6,221–$13,224
  • Lecturer C: $6,825–$14,523
  • Lecturer D: $8,593–$15,211

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline, such as Physical Science or Engineering (required).

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline, such as Physical Science or Engineering (preferred).
  • Experience teaching mathematics at the collegiate level, especially Calculus and/or Differential Equations (preferred).

Special Conditions

  • Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work.
  • Cal Poly cannot deny an applicant a position solely or in part due to a criminal conviction history until it has performed an individualized assessment.
  • Cal Poly will not sponsor an H-1B visa for this position.
  • The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
