About the role

The Accounting Area in the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly is seeking applications for a pool of part-time accounting lecturers for possible teaching assignments in financial and managerial accounting, income taxation, and accounting information systems. Positions are available as determined by need and funding during the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the 2026-27 academic year, which begins August 17, 2026. Assignments are contingent upon class availability, scheduling, budget and enrollments.

Responsibilities

  • Teach financial and managerial accounting, income taxation, and accounting information systems.
  • Ensure currency in the professional field through ongoing work, training, or engagement with industry trends.
  • Show depth of knowledge and practical application in the field through substantial and relevant industry experience.
  • Adapt to changing academic needs and preferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated currency in the professional field through ongoing work, training, or engagement with industry trends.
  • Substantial and relevant industry experience, showing depth of knowledge and practical application in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in business or related discipline.
  • Professional certification.
