About the role

The Laboratory Technician I performs testing activities as directed by the applicable Supervisor in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines and supports laboratory operations by maintaining systems. The Laboratory Technician I receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to, the applicable Supervisor, or appointed designate, for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities and has the authority to take action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing activities as directed by Environmental Lab Supervisor, Monograph Supervisor, Lab Supervisor, or Food Chemistry Supervisor in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Utilize wet chemistry techniques including gravimetry, titrimetry, colorimetry and others as needed.
  • Maintain neat and accurate records.
  • Enter testing data into LIMS and monitor for QC failures.
  • Monitor and record environmental conditions in laboratory. Alert management of any out of tolerance findings.
  • Perform calibrations/checks of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain glassware inventory for laboratory use.
  • Maintain chemical/reagent traceability.
  • Assist with maintenance of chemical/supply inventory.
  • Support quality system improvements through completion of Corrective and Preventive Action forms, documenting Non-Conformances and assisting with internal audit findings as assigned.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Chemistry or related field or equivalent background in Chemistry.
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025, DEA, EPA, FDA and related guidance.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience in chemistry laboratory (preferred).
