Part Time - Lab Assistant

About the Role

Perform routine laboratory functions to support laboratory staff and ensure efficient production.

Responsibilities

• Sort, receive, and manage specimens in the department.
• Conduct basic instrument maintenance and prepare reagents/media.
• Process specimens for testing, including centrifuging, building worklists, aliquoting, and slide preparation.
• Perform QA/QC duties, resolve pending lists, locate missing samples, and decontaminate work areas.
• Handle biohazardous waste, change gas cylinders, and follow safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs, record data, and maintain departmental records.
• Complete training and competency assessments as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant training and science/mathematics courses preferred.
• No prior work experience necessary.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, retain information, and interact courteously with colleagues and clients.
• Must follow safety procedures, including radioactive wipe tests.
