Part-time opportunity within the Discover Program, a work-based learning initiative that prepares high school students with disabilities for the transition from school to adult life.

About the role

Job Coaches accompany students one-on-one or in small groups to community business partners, delivering hands-on, real-life employment-readiness experiences. Coaches:

  • Teach soft skills, work behaviors, problem-solving, social skills, teamwork, and independence in community-based settings.
  • Identify each student’s interests and strengths.
  • Build student confidence and self-advocacy.
  • Collect data on 25 attributes shared with the student and IEP team for skill development and goal planning.

Coaches may either meet students at the workplace or drive students in CCIU vans.

Schedule

  • Flexible workdays: 2–5 days per week (M–F), following a school-year calendar (late August to mid-June, up to 180 days per year).
  • Hours vary by student schedules; maximum 26.25 hours per week (5.25 hours per day).
  • All work occurs during the school day (e.g., 8:30 AM–1 PM); no evenings, weekends, or after-school hours.
  • Summer work may be available upon request.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience with secondary students preferred.
  • Experience with autism/special-needs populations strongly preferred.
  • Experience with special-education data collection strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to work across multiple areas of Chester County.
  • Valid Driver’s License with no moving violations in the past three years.
  • Current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, police, child-abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances required upon hire.
  • Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and the federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire).

Pay

Hourly rate: $24.82–$32.90, based on years of experience in a similar role.
