Part Time Janitor/Custodian - Highlands Ranch Store

About the role

This role maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by performing routine custodial duties, floor care, restroom cleaning, and seasonal maintenance in Goodwill of Colorado retail stores. Stores are open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, employee break areas, and public spaces.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water, cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
• Sweep and mop floors to remove slip, trip, and fall hazards.
• Vacuum carpets, steam-clean carpets/rugs, dust furniture, polish fixtures, and remove marks/stains from walls and other surfaces.
• Clean and dust store fixtures as required.
• Perform additional floor maintenance such as applying wax/sealant, buffing, stripping, and top scrubbing floors.
• Remove trash from offices, restrooms, and other areas in and around the store.
• Adhere to all safety protocols (Goodwill and OSHA) for proper chemical use and waste disposal, including mixing cleaning agents per standards.
• Move heavy furniture items to clean surrounding areas when required.
• Shovel snow/ice from sidewalks and apply salt to prevent slip, trip, and fall hazards.
• Provide courteous customer service, including directing customers to appropriate departments or team members.
• Report missing or damaged items and maintenance needs immediately.
• Adhere to Goodwill’s policies, procedures, and employee handbook.
• Contribute to a safe working environment for self, customers, and fellow employees.
• Escalate issues or concerns to store management in a timely manner.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of previous custodial experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend cleaning solution directions for proper use and disposal.
• Adherence to all safety protocols for Goodwill and OSHA regarding chemical use and waste disposal.
• Ability to stay on track and complete duties in a timely manner.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime.
• Effective communication with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
