About the role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Part-Time Inventory Analyst to support a transport-related business in Whittier, California through a Contract engagement. This role will focus on improving inventory visibility, strengthening cost analysis, and providing financial insight that supports pricing and operational decisions. The position begins on a part-time schedule of three days per week, with Friday required, and may expand based on business needs. This opportunity is well suited for someone who can work independently, organize complex inventory data, and bring structure to existing reporting processes.
Responsibilities
- Analyze inventory records across internally maintained files and accounting data to improve accuracy and reporting reliability.
- Review product cost information and develop structured costing support for bid submissions and larger customer orders.
- Perform inventory-related financial analysis to identify discrepancies, trends, and areas requiring corrective action.
- Reconcile inventory data with QuickBooks records and help strengthen consistency between operational and financial information.
- Conduct inventory audits and variance reviews to support better control over stock levels and material valuation.
- Assist with standard costing setup, cost center organization, and account mapping as part of broader operational finance needs.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses for leadership related to inventory performance, margins, and cost behavior.
- Collaborate with operational and finance stakeholders to document current inventory processes and recommend practical improvements.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in inventory analysis, financial analysis, or cost accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and experience using spreadsheets or internal tracking tools to manage inventory data.
- Ability to perform variance analysis, reconcile data sets, and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Experience supporting product costing, pricing inputs, or bid-related financial analysis.
- Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing and cost allocation concepts.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, ad hoc analysis, and data mining techniques.
- Ability to work a part-time schedule starting at three days per week, with Friday availability required.
