General Responsibilities
- Teach assigned classes under the supervision of the Biology Department Chair and Pre-Nursing Program Director;
- Update a syllabus and course timeline based on the template each semester and post it online before class starts.
- Ensure that course content is in line with all the other sections of the course.
- Help students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content;
- Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
- Guide students through their studies using active collaboration and active learning techniques.
- Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilize rubrics effectively to assess student learning outcomes, and acknowledge student accomplishments.
- Maintain up-to-date grades on the online learning management system;
- Utilize current technology in the performance of job duties;
- Send student success alerts as needed to activate support systems for students who need extra help;
- Submit final grades in a timely fashion;
- Communicate with the Biology Department Chair and Pre-Nursing Program Director as necessary;
- Maintain a thorough and up-to-date subject-matter expertise;
- Maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position;
- Abide by all relevant university and/or department procedures and policies.
Job Requirements
- Possess a Master's degree or Doctoral degree or be a Doctoral candidate in the Biological Sciences, with demonstrated expertise in the field of Microbiology.
- Able to teach undergraduate-level Microbiology.
- Able to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
- Able to professionally interact with students, other educators, educational institution representatives, and the public.
