About the role
The Human Resources Assistant plays an important role in supporting our team members and helping our organization thrive. Working closely with the HR Director, this position assists with a variety of human resources functions, including recruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, training, compensation, safety, and compliance. This role helps support the people behind our mission by contributing to a positive workplace experience and ensuring our employees have the resources they need to succeed.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the HR Director on selecting and prescreening applicants.
- Supports the HR Director in the administration of human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, performance, talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.
- Assists with identifying staffing and recruiting needs and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Aids the HR Director in monitoring and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and may suggest changes to policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Assists with data entry tasks and employee life cycle onboarding.
- Assists with creating the company's bi-monthly newsletter.
- Collaborates and supports the HR Director and the Marketing Manager on employee engagement initiatives.
- Corrects employees' time punches, preps, and enters payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in HR or a similar subject.
- One year of job-related/industry experience (preferred).
- General business and HR knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Word, Excel applications, and company operational systems.
- Must pass a background check.
Physical Requirements
Mostly walking, talking, standing, and updating information in a computer system.
Schedule
This is a part-time, fully in-person role. Open to two or three days a week, with Monday and Tuesday required.
