Part-Time Hospice Chaplain

About the role

The chaplain provides spiritual care and counseling to patients, their families, and staff, supporting their spiritual needs in alignment with their beliefs and care plans.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and address spiritual needs of patients and families throughout their care journey.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and revise personalized spiritual care plans.
  • Administer sacraments and offer individual spiritual support, respecting diverse faith traditions and cultural backgrounds.
  • Educate healthcare staff and community faith leaders on spiritual care responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, ensure compliance with policies, and evaluate additional service needs.
  • Promote spiritual life participation among employees and provide leadership when necessary.
  • Address referrals promptly, demonstrate critical thinking in complex situations, and uphold ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • Master of Divinity or Master of Theology from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Certification or endorsement as a chaplain, with clinical pastoral education (CPE) units, preferred.
  • Previous pastoral experience, hospice, and grief training preferred.
  • Active membership in a Christian denomination, with ordination, licensing, or commissioning verification required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet medical guidelines.
