About the role

Under general supervision, this role performs comprehensive triage of complaints, incident/accident reports, and facility reported incidents (FRIs) to ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid certification and State standards, as well as Federal, State, and other applicable healthcare laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Triage complaints, incident/accident reports, and FRIs according to Healthcare Quality protocols and guidelines.
- Review and log complaint allegations appropriately.
- Prepare complaint intake documentation and respond to queries from the Regional Long-Term Ombudsman.
- Determine the scope of complaints and inquiries in accordance with Healthcare Quality guidelines.
- Meet deadlines with effective and complete written correspondence, documentation, and data entry.
- Collaborate with team members and other program areas to identify concerns, solve problems, and make decisions.
- Assist with quality improvement planning and attend team meetings as needed.
- Provide clinical information and guidelines to staff upon request.
- Apply critical thinking to triage processes.
- Participate in preparing and presenting for hearings and trials.
- Review Informal Dispute Resolution (IDR) and Independent Informal Dispute Resolution (IIDR) requests as needed.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensed as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
- Must hold an active South Carolina nursing license in good standing, or a valid multistate license in good standing from a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) participating state.

- Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in nursing; or
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing with two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse; or
- An associate degree or diploma in nursing with four (4) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Reside within 50 miles of Columbia.
