About the Role
The Food Service Worker supervises inmates in a kitchen setting to ensure meal preparation aligns with production plans, adhering to safety and sanitation standards. This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and adherence to standards to support food service operations in a correctional setting.
Responsibilities
- Train and coordinate inmate workers in food prep, recipe use, and proper cooking procedures.
- Oversee meal service, portion control, and special dietary needs.
- Maintain sanitation, security, and safety protocols, including secure storage and equipment management.
- Assist with inventory, food storage, and requisition processes.
- Follow HACCP policies and food handling guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and facility regulations.
- Exercise good judgment, work independently, and motivate teams to achieve quality food production.
Qualifications
- Must be over 18 years old.
- Preferred experience in food prep, supervision, or correctional environments.
- Ability to obtain a food safety certification and security clearance is required.
- Physical demands may include lifting, bending, and extended standing.
