About the Role

We are hiring for the following positions within our dietary team:

  • Dietary Aide: Assists in meal and snack preparation, cleanup of dining areas, and receiving, rotating, and storing supplies and food. Daily interactions with residents include serving meals, cleaning work areas, washing dishes, pans, and utensils. Ensures compliance with infection control, safety, and sanitation standards. Maintains clean and safe food storage and work areas, and reports violations of safety or sanitation rules.
  • Cook Supervisor: Supervises and monitors dietary department personnel, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. Contributes to performance evaluations of subordinates alongside the Dietary Manager. Oversees dietary aide work assignments and manages the department in the Dietary Manager’s absence. Prepares and serves meals according to residents’ dietary needs and orders. Collaborates with the Dietary Manager to meet resident needs, assists with production planning, and provides input on forecasting and recipe development. Manages food and equipment purchases and storage, ensuring quality and budgetary compliance. Operates kitchen equipment and responds to residents’ requests promptly. Assists in planning and preparing for facility special events.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks for residents according to dietary needs and orders.
  • Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing food and supplies.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas, including dishwashing and sanitation of equipment.
  • Comply with infection control, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Supervise dietary aides and manage department operations in the absence of the Dietary Manager (Cook Supervisor role).
  • Utilize kitchen equipment such as steamers, blenders, slicers, and ovens.
  • Respond to residents’ requests and assist in planning special events.
  • Ensure food is handled in accordance with sanitary regulations.
  • Report violations of safety or sanitation rules to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Ability to unload and stock groceries, including lifting items up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English, performing simple math calculations, and measuring/recording data.
  • Attention to detail, strong follow-through skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct others (Cook Supervisor role).
  • Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
  • Demonstrates cooperation, teamwork, and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
  • Professional communication with residents, staff, and family members.
