Part-time position located in Kearney, NE.
Schedule
6:45 am – 3:15 pm, 40 hours every 2-week pay period with every other weekend and holiday off.
Pay
$18.478/hour plus a $3/shift differential, totaling $21.478/hour. A $200 commuting bonus is available for employees who drive 30+ miles to work.

Responsibilities
- Prepare, season, cook, and portion food (sauces, soups, meats, salads, baked goods, vegetables) for regular and modified diets according to menus and recipes
- Practice food conservation and proper storage or reuse of leftovers
- Assist with organization and management of food service operations
- Prepare snacks
- Maintain quality standards for food preparation and sanitation
- Clean work areas, equipment, and complete special cleaning assignments
- Operate kitchen equipment (grill, oven, steam equipment, mixer, blender, slicer, Robot Coupe, Blast Chiller) safely and maintain it in proper working condition
- Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors
- Assist in training new hires
- Portion and serve food in the Neighborhood Home Kitchen(s) and assist in serving members
- Follow production sheets for accuracy in food preparation and portion sizes
- Understand and implement modified diets and combinations of these diets
- Record temperatures and serve food/beverages according to menu, member diet, and food preferences
- Assist in other work areas such as the Fox Hole
- Stock food supplies in member households and deliver food carts to member units
- Operate automatic dish machines, scrape and prepare pots, pans, and utensils for washing, and return clean items to storage
Requirements
- Coursework/training in food preparation and/or cooking and baking experience in a large-scale food service operation
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Knowledge of cooking techniques for meats, soups, salads, and baked goods
- Understanding of food sanitation practices and proper handling of fruits, vegetables, and other food items
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment, utensils, and safety practices
- Knowledge of facility standards for cleaning dishes, utensils, equipment, and facilities
- Understanding of food preparation schedules and personal hygiene standards
- Ability to follow procedures for portioning, temperature recording, and serving food
