Position Summary

Guilford College, a small liberal arts institution in Greensboro, NC, is seeking an instructor to teach Introduction to Sociology in Fall 2026.

Course Description

The course provides an introduction to sociology and its application in the critical examination of contemporary society. It addresses theoretical perspectives on culture, social structure, and individual development within a social context. The curriculum emphasizes social inequality as a consequence of structural systems, with particular attention to race, class, gender, and sexuality as central components of social organization.

Class Information

  • Courses will be held in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 2:15, beginning August 19, 2026, and concluding December 10, 2026.
  • Enrollment is capped at 25 students.

Compensation

$4,250 contingent upon a minimum enrollment of 10 students.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidacy in sociology is preferred.
  • A Master’s degree in sociology is required.
