Part-Time Faculty- Culinary

Part-Time Faculty position in the Hospitality/Culinary/Tourism department, located off campus. This role requires a full-time in-person presence on campus or at alternative locations.

About the Role

Provide instruction of Culinary courses in the HCAT Institute as directed by enrollments and assigned by your supervisor on a semester basis. Prepare daily instructional lesson plans based on agreed-upon curriculum and instruct in alignment with the philosophy, policies, and guidelines of Anne Arundel Community College. Teach lectures and hands-on classes on campus, off campus, or remotely to meet professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Instruct Culinary courses as assigned, incorporating a variety of technologies into course delivery.
• Assess learning outcomes listed in the course guide or syllabus.
• Provide regular and constructive feedback to students in an objective, consistent, and timely manner.
• Evaluate and document student performance using established methods, rubrics, and criteria.
• File course grades with 100% accuracy.
• Attend departmental, divisional, and assigned association meetings as requested.
• Maintain appropriate industry certifications and participate in an approved professional development plan.
• Maintain professional communications and relationships with all related program departments.
• Teach at least two face-to-face, in-person classes per week.
• Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and local travel as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with an executive-level ACF certification (Certified Executive Chef (CEC), Certified Executive Pastry Chef (CEPC), or Certified Culinary Educator (CCE)).
• Five years of related industry experience in hospitality, culinary, and/or baking and pastry.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines.
• Familiarity with microcomputer applications (e.g., word processing, database management, or industry-specific point-of-sale systems).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
• Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
