Part-Time Faculty- Baking and Pastry

Part-time faculty position teaching Baking & Pastry courses in the Hospitality, Culinary, and Tourism Institute. Instruction may be on campus, off campus, or remotely as assigned each semester.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction of Baking & Pastry courses as directed by enrollments and supervisor assignments.
• Prepare daily instructional lesson plans based on agreed-upon curriculum.
• Instruct lectures and hands-on classes to professional standards consistent with Anne Arundel Community College’s philosophy, policies, and guidelines.
• Assess learning outcomes listed in the course guide or syllabus.
• Provide regular and constructive feedback to students in an objective, consistent, and timely manner.
• Evaluate and document student performance using established methods, rubrics, and criteria.
• File course grades with 100% accuracy.
• Incorporate a variety of technologies into course delivery.
• Attend departmental, divisional, and assigned association meetings as requested.
• Maintain appropriate industry certifications and participate in an approved professional development plan.
• Maintain professional communications and relationships with related program departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with an executive-level ACF certification (Certified Executive Chef (CEC), Certified Executive Pastry Chef (CEPC), or Certified Culinary Educator (CCE)).
• Combination of hospitality, culinary, and/or baking and pastry-related education and industry experience.
• Five years of related industry experience.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to teach at least two face-to-face, in-person classes per week.
• Familiarity with microcomputer applications such as word processing, database management, or industry-specific point-of-sale systems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and travel locally to accommodate program needs.
• Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, faculty, staff, governmental agencies, community representatives, and the public.

Schedule

Varies based on availability, including evenings and weekends. Must be able to teach at least two face-to-face, in-person classes per week.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis and reside in Maryland or one of the following states: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia.
