Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on student enrollment needs. During the academic year, part-time faculty may teach no more than 11.5 ESH (equivalent semester hour) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year. During summer, part-time faculty may teach no more than 10 ESH (equivalent semester hours) for both sessions combined.

About the Role

We seek an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits high professionalism, a solid commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate engagingly in the classroom and a virtual environment. Available to teach during daytime classes, typically between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM. Assignments can vary in duration and are not guaranteed. Courses may be offered at any of our campuses, including off-site locations, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Accounting courses, mentor and advise students, and participate in department and college activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development (e.g., training, seminars, and conferences) to stay current with cutting-edge pedagogies and methodologies.
  • Cover and/or substitute for part-time and/or temporary openings in the department as needed.
  • Design and coordinate course content in alignment with the Accounting curriculum as determined by the accounting faculty team.
  • Provide effective classroom instruction through culturally relevant pedagogies and educational resources appropriate for the subject matter.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade all class assignments and examinations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records as required.
  • Provide timely and useful feedback to students to help them improve their work.
  • Maintain regular office hours.
  • Assist and advise students on their degree plans.
  • Assess student learning by administering discipline-specific assessments created by the accounting faculty team.
  • Participate in special paid program activities, including curriculum and program planning, development, evaluation, and decision-making, as well as developing new teaching-learning methods and materials.
  • Participate in departmental and college professional training activities.
  • Maintain currency and depth of knowledge in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Communicate with excellent written and oral skills in English.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Business is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) licensure is required.
  • Willingness to teach classes on-site at any of our three Montgomery College campuses or off-campus locations (including teaching Early College and Middle College students), requiring background checks and fingerprinting.
  • Current skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College's strategic inclusion plan.
  • Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus).
  • Eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Accounting or Business.
  • Experience in U.S. Personal and Corporate Taxation and/or Auditing.
  • Five or more years of full-time accounting work experience.
  • Familiarization with accounting, tax, audit, and AI software.
  • Three or more years of teaching experience.
  • Face-to-face and distance teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with teaching technologies (learning platforms, homework managers, etc.).
