About the role
Teaching responsibilities include facilitating student learning in Accounting classes.
Responsibilities
- Teach Accounting classes
- Initiate and participate in efforts to improve student success
- Assess learning outcomes and teaching effectiveness
- Maintain licensure and certifications as applicable
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a Master’s degree in Business or a Business related field from an accredited institution with 18 hours in Accounting courses beyond the Principles of Accounting sequence
- A Master’s degree in Business or a Business related field from an accredited institution with 18 graduate hours in accounting and finance
- A Master’s degree in Business or a Business related field from an accredited institution with certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- Two (2) years of practical experience in the accounting field
- Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission and philosophy
- Innovative, flexible, and positive teaching style and understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak and write effectively
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to integrate computer applications into teaching
- Ability to establish and maintain collegial relationships with students, peers, staff, and administrators
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution
- Ability to produce high-quality courseware to be delivered through multiple approaches, including lecture and WEB-style delivery
- Evidence of continuing professional development in the Accounting profession
- Evidence of an entrepreneurial spirit that can be linked to successes in Small Business consulting or ownership and can be applied to instructional techniques, curriculum development, and classroom management
Skills
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and college objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
