Part-Time Faculty 2D Animation Instructor

About the role
Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time faculty member to teach 2D Animation. The ideal candidate will exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.
During the academic year, part-time faculty may teach no more than 11.5 Equivalent Semester Hours (ESH) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year. During summer sessions, part-time faculty may teach no more than 10 ESH combined. The listing of a course as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment, and hiring decisions are at Management’s sole discretion.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to 2 courses in Animation per semester.
- Prepare course materials and syllabi; evaluate and grade student assignments.
- Integrate learning management systems (Blackboard Ultra) and relevant technology into instruction.
- Teach a varied schedule, including day/night, early morning, accelerated, and virtual courses.
- Apply culturally relevant pedagogies to teaching and learning.
- Cultivate an inclusive and supportive learning environment that values student diversity.
- Bring real-world industry experience into the classroom, sharing insights, case studies, and practical applications.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Animation or a related field.
- Professional industry experience in Animation.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience working in Animation.
- Experience teaching courses at the college level.
- Specialized experience with 2D animation.
- Familiarity with current trends in new technology and willingness to incorporate them.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and advise students.
- Proficiency in Adobe Software and Autodesk Maya Software.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence.
- Access to a personal computer with virus protection for remote connectivity (if unavailable, notify the department chair at the time of interview).
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Employees must live in Maryland or a state with payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent teaching experience at a college or university.
- Teaching experience in Animation.
- Experience with 3D Animation.
