Part-Time Facilities Operations Laborer

About the role

This part-time laborer position supports the Facilities Operations Team within the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC). You will assist in a variety of building, equipment, and grounds maintenance tasks across multiple trades, ensuring projects align with objectives and support the mission of FMDC. Responsibilities

• Complete a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings, facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
• Maintain grounds through horticultural care, debris/trash disposal, snow removal, and salt application.
• Perform manual labor related to receiving, handling, and storing building materials.
• Assist in cleaning parking lots and patching/painting asphalt.
• Perform light electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs (including drywall and painting).
• Execute work orders in a timely and accurate manner under general supervision.
• Travel to other facilities (within a 2-hour radius) to provide occasional assistance.
• Follow OA-FMDC health and safety protocols and OSHA standards.
• Respond to emergency calls and provide after-hours coverage for severe weather, water leaks, fires, and other emergencies.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and carry out time-sensitive instructions independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate gas- and hand-powered lawn maintenance tools, mowing machinery, tractors, and motorized equipment.
• General knowledge of grounds keeping, trades work, maintenance, and repair.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license or one from an adjacent state if residing outside Missouri.
• Safety-first mindset with knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions (OSHA 10 and/or 30 preferred; training can be provided if needed).
• Successful background check (including name/fingerprints and other screenings as required).
• Authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship provided).

Lack of post-secondary education will not disqualify applicants.
