Part Time Event Services Tech
Key Responsibilities
- Perform event setup, reconfiguration, and teardown of tables, chairs, staging, pipe and drape, barricades, fencing, portable flooring, and other event-related equipment according to approved floor plans, work orders, and event schedules.
- Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness of buildings, meeting rooms, restrooms, public areas, and event spaces through routine custodial services, event-related cleaning, and facility inspections.
- Read, interpret, and execute event work orders, floor plans, diagrams, schedules, and setup instructions while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.
- Absorb and provide professional customer service and operational support to exhibitors, vendors, clients, and contractors throughout the event lifecycle.
- Perform waste management and sanitation duties, including trash removal, recycling, debris cleanup, spill response, restroom maintenance, replenishment of custodial supplies, and routine and deep cleaning of assigned facilities.
- Operate department vehicles, forklifts, aerial lifts, utility carts, cleaning equipment, power tools, and other operational equipment in accordance with training and established safety procedures.
- Inspect facilities, event spaces, furnishings, equipment, and operational tools before, during, and after events, reporting maintenance needs, safety concerns, damages, or operational issues promptly.
- Support facility operations through room resets, furniture movement, equipment staging, inventory organization, storage management, and maintaining secure, organized work and storage areas.
- Complete assigned pre-event, post-event, daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal operational and custodial responsibilities to ensure all facilities, event spaces, equipment, and support areas remain clean, safe, organized, and event-ready.
- Respond promptly to operational requests, emergency cleanup situations, weather-related impacts, and other facility support needs during events and normal business operations.
Requirements
- Required: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: One (1) year of experience in event operations, facility operations, custodial services, hospitality, convention centers, sports venues, entertainment venues, or related industries.
- Preferred: Forklift and/or aerial lift certification.
- Preferred: Valid Florida Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
- Preferred: Ability to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, high-reach equipment, floor scrubbers, and utility vehicles.
- Preferred: Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and operational equipment.
- Preferred: Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing event requirements.
- Preferred: Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while interacting with clients and guests.
- Preferred: Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on event schedules and Fair operations.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Duties are not performed primarily in an office setting.
- Sometimes operates computer and standard office equipment, such as telephone and copier/printer.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste/smell, and lift of move (more than 20 pounds up to 50 pounds).
- Environmental demands include exposure to wet/humidity, works near mechanical parts, work in high place, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures (non-weather), and risk of electrical shock.
Summary
The Event Services Technician is responsible for supporting all aspects of event operations across the Florida State Fairgrounds. This position assists with event setup and teardown, facility readiness, custodial services, equipment movement, venue maintenance, and customer service to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for clients, guests, exhibitors, and staff. Assignments may vary based on operational needs, scheduled events, staffing requirements, and employee experience. While individual technicians may routinely specialize in event setup or custodial operations, all Event Services Technicians are expected to support the department's overall operational objectives and assist in other functional areas as directed.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
