Job Duties
- Aid teachers in preparing educational materials and setting up classroom for daily activities.
- Safeguard classroom environment by supervising children at all times.
- Rotate between classrooms as needed.
- Follow organizational and classroom-specific policies and procedures.
- Report unusual or at-risk situations to supervisor promptly.
- Provide child first aid, diaper children, and participate in potty training and toileting.
- Implement procedures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Support oral and physical health.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and crises.
- Assist in food preparation, serving, and clean-up.
- Adhere to Head Start Performance Standards, Kansas Child Care Licensing Regulations, and Educare Learning Network core features.
- Ensure children are under appropriate supervision and guidance at all times.
- Create a supportive social-emotional classroom climate.
- Complete daily activity and accident reports.
- Build rapport with families.
- Communicate daily with parents about their child's involvement and progress.
- Participate in reflective supervision with Mentor Teacher.
- Develop an action plan for professional development based on classroom assessments, center goals, and self-assessments.
- Engage in classroom assessments as part of the Educare Learning Network cross-site evaluation.
- Collaborate with Teachers to implement classroom action plans based on assessment and evaluation results.
- Attend staff meetings, parent meetings, and in-service training as required.
- Work collaboratively with community partners, volunteers, and evaluation partners in the classroom.
Qualifications
- Education: Meet one of the following:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) or Early Childhood Certificate
- Early Childhood college credit hours
- One year of teaching experience in the Early Childhood field and willingness to pursue higher education (complete a CDA, Early Childhood Certificate, or 9 early childhood college credit hours in Early Childhood Education within 2 years).
- Certification: CPR and First Aid Certified or certified within 30 days of employment (paid for by employer).
- Experience: Working with children ages 0-3 and 3-5.
- Language: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
