Early Head Start/Head Start Teacher Aide

About the role

The Early Head Start/Head Start Teacher Aide position at Project Eagle Educare is dedicated to supporting the daily operations of assigned classrooms, adhering to federal and state guidelines, and fostering a safe and nurturing environment for young children and their families.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing educational materials and setting up classroom for daily activities
• Safeguard children under supervision at all times
• Rotate between classrooms as needed
• Follow organizational and classroom-specific policies and procedures
• Report and address unusual or at-risk situations promptly
• Support children’s growth and development through play-based experiences
• Participate in reflective supervision with Mentor Teacher
• Collaborate with community partners, volunteers, and evaluation partners

Requirements

• Education: Meet one of the following: Child Development Associate (CDA), Early Childhood Certificate, 9 early childhood college credit hours, or one year of teaching experience in Early Childhood field and willingness to pursue higher education within 2 years.
• Certification: CPR and First Aid Certified or obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
• Experience: Working with children ages 0-3 and 3-5.
• Languages: Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education from an accredited College or University.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices
