Part-time continuing position (up to 28 hours per week).
About the role
Dining Services is seeking hard-working individuals to join a team of professionals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service. Positions assist in retail, catering, and residential food-service operations. Work hours may vary and include evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety and sanitation standards in all duties.
- Interact with customers and staff in a polite, friendly, and courteous manner.
- Assist other food-service employees as needed.
- Respond to special dietary requests.
- Set up and maintain food-serving and display areas in an attractive and sanitary manner.
- Work various shifts, stations, and scheduled hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call.
- Assist in university recycling efforts.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
- Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences.
- Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
- Perform any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Demonstrated history of effective interpersonal communication, teamwork, and cheerful customer assistance.
- Ability to work in an environment with all food types (e.g., shellfish, peanuts, fruit) and industrial-strength cleaners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Customer service experience.
- Food production or food-service experience.
- Cashiering, retail, or cash-handling experience.
- Experience operating a point-of-sale system.
Skills

- Friendly, polite, and courteous public interaction.
- Adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
- Accurate record-keeping and basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read and follow recipes, directions, safety labels, and equipment manuals.
